Configuring: Scale Values

Select one or more fields to scale, and provide the value by which to multiply the data.

Worked example: Scale values

Steps to configure

  1. Select fields: Select the field/s to scale.

  2. Scale fields: Enter the value by which to scale the data of the selected fields.

  3. Execute: The dataset is modified to contain the newly scaled values.

Step 1: Select field

Select the fields you would like to scale.

  • Only double fields will be available for selection.

  • Default: All double fields are listed in the available window.

  • Minimum configuration: At least one field needs to be selected.

Step 2: Scale field

Enter the scaling factor for each selected field. This value will be multiplied by the data values contained in each field.

  • Boundaries of values: The resulting scaled values must fall into these value ranges:

    • double values: -1.79x10308 < n > +1.79x10308

  • Double fields can be scaled by double or integer values.

  • If invalid data has been entered, it will automatically be corrected once the user clicks outside of the textbox. Invalid data in this context refers to data that contains characters or values outside the double minimum and maximum range.

  • Default: A value of 1 for scaling will be placed in the scale text boxes as default. Scaling by 1 will result in the original value.

  • Minimum configuration: The user cannot leave the scale text box empty and has to enter a valid value.

Step 3: Execute

The dataset will be modified to contain the newly scaled values. All field types will show in the final dataset, but only the double field values will be scaled.
